Well, it's been a few days since I've posted. Lazy? Me?? Naw!! Ok, a little. But really - I've just been trying to warm up. But YAY!! A few days ago, hubby finally turned on the old furnace. And don't you just know it - 2 days later - we're back to 75 degree weather! grrr. Oh, well. But those few days of 'cold' weather gave me the perfect excuse to buy some knee-high socks! I haven't had any since elementary school. And I LOVE them. Warm & funky.
I just spent the evening washing mini-me's hair. It's curly - no, CURLY. And she has a lot of it. Nearly down to her bottom-end. Still you think "how long can that possibly take?". HOURS is the quick answer to a L-O-N-G process. Ask any black woman how much time they spend in a beauty salon on a Saturday and be very surprised if they say anything less than 4 hours. Yes - our magnificent beauty takes time. And it's no different for mini-me - except without the gossip, burnt ears and chemical burns from the perms. Baby's hair is 'pure' and there is nothing worse than combing thru tangled child hair. Cause once you comb thru it - it's tangled again! But it's all good now. She asked for, and received, eight braids. Why eight, you ask? Because she knows with eight braids, mommy is done torturing her by combing thru that magnificent mane for at least a few more days. Eight braids buys us both time. I no more want to comb any more hair than she wants to sit for 40 minutes having it combed. Eight braids buys us 4 days to a week. And often - that feels like too soon.
And some wonder why my hair is cropped SO short! ha.
