itsy, bisty things...

we receive visitors on a regular basis. we don't greet them, visit with them - or actually, even see them! they are 'borrowers'.

at first we weren't too certain that they actually existed. i mean - we really hadn't heard of them before. and then we read that book. it explained everything! whenever small things go missing, we now understand where they must go!

first we set up a little house for them. someplace we felt they might feel safe. occasionally something small would appear in it - but for a very long time we saw nothing. slowly, minime began to fill the space up with small 'found' objects around the house - you know - things we might not otherwise miss - and giving them to 'the borrowers'. the above photo shows you their living room - complete with a t.v. (apparently, they enjoy watching bears read books) and a jack-o-lantern. it's most amazing when the 'borrowers' leave small objects in return!

she's also very certain to make sure they have a "borrowers bag" - you know, storage for them to go around the house 'borrowing' things. today, she brought it to book club to share with her friends what *her* borrowers use.

the second floor is quite elegant as it actually has a curio cabinet - complete with wooden bowls, milk bottles & crate, and a rounded side table. clearly those were items provided by minime herself, for the borrowers. she does enjoy seeing them live in style!

******************************

it is amazing what fun a $5, unfinished bookcase from michael's and a small paperback book, can do for the imagination of a child! with Christmas coming soon, there are many surprises in the works - a mini christmas tree, small wooden apples and acorns, christmas wreaths and more!

christmas definitely is most fun when the imagination of a child is stirred. as she gets older, it gets a little harder, but clearly - there is still lots to fill!
